Trevor McKenzie-Smith owns and operates a consulting company (TMS_C) where he works with Indigenous organizations & governments, trade unions, provincial & municipal governments, political candidates & parties and many civil society organizations.

Over the last twenty-five years he has worked as a strategist, communicator, public opinion researcher, manager and campaigner organizing for progressive change across Canada. He works extensively in BC, Ontario and throughout the Canadian Prairies.

He has worked in countless campaigns from the ground and up to senior roles in central campaigns, including running city-wide winning mayoral and province-wide general election campaigns. He has also worked on municipal and provincial government transitions.

Trevor was also Vice President at a national firm (Stratcom) where he oversaw all public opinion polling & focus group work as well as member-to-member, public engagement, political engagement and campaigns work, working with hundreds of clients from labour and the non-profit sector across Canada and in the UK.

He worked with Jack Layton & the Federal NDP for many years and was also Special Advisor to former Saskatchewan Premier Lorne Calvert.

Among his recent most impactful projects is an international partnership with Gaia Amazonas in Colombia, aimed at raising awareness in Canada about the Amazon Rainforest, promoting Indigenous human rights, protecting the region’s rich biodiversity and supporting the objectives of the Macroterritory of the Jaguars of the Yurupari Indigenous government. In 2025, Trevor worked with CUPE National to shape and deliver its federal election political action strategy and produced their online election advertising.
